We will be working together as a troop to earn the
President's Volunteer
Service Award.
For the calendar year of 2004, the troop earned the Bronze Level Award for
Groups by completing over
250 hours of community service.
This year, we are working towards the Silver Level Award for Groups and
will complete more than
500 hours of community service!

This year's completed Service Projects
| August | School Supply Drive Benefits the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry We collected a record number of school supplies. By our math - we collected enough school supplies to fully outfit about 120 students! Markers, crayons, paper, scissors, glue - none of us brought enough for a full class - but when we combined it all - WOW! What an amazing result! |
| September | Canned Food Drive Benefits the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry We collected a HUGE amount of food to help get the Lilburn Coop started on their holiday service. Again, we collected nearly a half-truckload of food - and poor Mrs. Lila had to carry it all home before delivering it to the food pantry. |
| October | Sewing new blankets Benefits Project Linus and Newborns in Need Sewing patchwork quilts for Project Linus was a
lot of fun. We were able to finish five quilts and have about a dozen
more started. We also learned how to tie fleece together to make a
warm and soft baby blanket. The Juniors thought that learning to crochet and knit was
interesting and we hope next year to donate some crocheted and knitted items
next year. |
| November |
Operation Christmas Child in cooperation with Samaritan's Purse November 15th, we had our annual Operation Christmas Child Packing Night. We all brought in items from home, toys, undergarments and socks, hard candy and toiletries. Then we set up our room as a "store" and packed almost 90 boxes. We had fun thinking about how happy the children overseas would be to open their gifts. And we took time to be grateful for all that we have. |
| December |
Toys for Tots At our Holiday Craft Event, we collected lots of toys for Toys for Tots. Now, we have been able to help children both overseas and at home to have a happy holiday season. |
| January | Coat and Blanket Drive Benefits The Quinn House Our troop worked hard to clean out closets at home - finding lots of good coats and blanket for the Quinn House. When we left the meeting, they had to be stuffed into four big black garbage bags! |
| February | Juliette Gordon-Low World Friendship Fund Our troop voted to send our dues from our Thinking Day meetings to the Juliette Gordon-Low World Friendship Fund which benefits girls all over the world. |
| March | Easter Basket Benefits Lilburn First Baptist Church Scouts gave items to fill two large baskets with canned and boxed food goods, Easter goodies for the kids, and a Kroger gift card intended for meat and other perishables. These baskets were given to local families in times of hardship. |
| April | Birthday Boxes Benefits Lilburn First Baptist Church We all brought in our extra party goodies - including party favors, themed paper goods, candles, streamers and birthday banners. Several scouts also donated cake mixes and frostings so that the children who get our birthday boxes can also have a yummy birthday cake! |
