Troop Service
Projects 2001-2002
November
2001 - In accordance with
President Bush's request, we used our dues to send to the Afghanistan
Childrens' Fund. We had a long discussion about how children overseas
were being affected by the September 11th tragedy and the ensuing
war. The girls voted unanimously to send their dues to benefit
the children of Afghanistan.
Christmas 2001 - for Christmas
we participated in Operation
Christmas Child. We set a goal of filling 10 shoe boxes (one
for each brownie) and were able to DOUBLE that goal. At our meeting
on November 19th, we wrapped, filled and decorated over 20 boxes.
It took two whole hours! We are very thankful for our corporate
sponsors who made it possible for us to be so generous: Wal-mart,
Office Depot, etc.....
Easter 2002
- On Friday March 15th,
troop leaders got a special request to fill a basket for Easter
dinner for those less fortunate in our immediate community. On
Monday, we filled our basket. Our Brownies voted to donate a $20
Kroger gift certificate along with the canned fruits and veggies,
rice, pasta, dessert and drink mixes they had donated. We topped
off the basket with plastic eggs stuffed with candy and 5 chocolate
bunnies. We also made Easter lilies and bunnies which we added
to the top. Take a look at the photo page to see how festive our
basket turned out!
June 2002 - Our
troop did such a great job on cookies
sales this year that we were able to make a large cash contribution
to Noah's Ark, a local
shelter for animals and children. On June 3rd, the girls visited
the shelter to present their check for $300!
