Our 2002 Accomplishments

We worked very hard as a troop, and we're very proud to earn several try-its!

     Colors and Shapes
to earn our Colors and Shapes try-it we did lots of fun projects. We made shaped Christmas ornaments with cinnamon dough, we did a maple leaf suncatcher with melted crayons, we also made neat Halloween bookmarks

Science in Action
to earn our Science in Action try-it we made silly putty, we used gas from baking soda and vinegar to fill up a balloon, we made a butterfly with a coffee filter to observe the colors in black ink, and we had a balloon race
Senses
to earn our Senses try-it we had an evening of sense experiments. We mapped our tongues, we felt inside of a bag to find different shapes - that was hard. We made an optical illusion spinner, We played a game blindfolded where we had to identify different noises, and we tried to identify different foods and spices by their smell.
Brownies Around The World
We earned our Brownies Around The World try-it as part of our World Thinking Day Celebration. We learned about Brownies in eight different countries all over the world. We studied their songs, games, uniforms and customs. We learned a lot about our Brownie sisters.
 Brownies Through The Years
We earned our Brownies Through The Years try-it at cookie time. We had a malt shop and wore circle skirts like Brownies in the 50's did. Mrs. June came and told us scout what her life was like as a child in the 50's, and we all asked our parents and grandparents about their childhoods in the 50's
 Computer Smarts
We earned our Computer Smarts try-it as part of our World Thinking Day Celebration. We all learned about Brownies from different countries. We used our computers as an important research tool. With our computers and the internet we were able to learn lots about our Brownie Sisters all over the world.
Friends Are Fun
We had a lot of fun earning our Friends Are Fun try-it. We planted flowers to represent how a friendship grows, We made trinket boxes, and friendship rings and bracelets.

Playing Around The World
We earned our Playing Around the World try-it while we were celebrating World Thinking Day. We played games from lots of other countries. See our games page to learn a few

 Cookies Count
We worked hard at our cookie sales. Everyone did a great job. We learned about setting and reaching goals, record-keeping, salesmanship and manners. Who would ever have guessed that we could learn so much from selling cookies??

 3rd Place!
The float that our troop made won 3rd prize at the parade at Stone Mountain! And we didn't even know that there was a contest! Take a look at the photos.
