POISON LOLLY a game played by Girl
Scouts in Australia You need: A plate, a bag of jelly beans or smarties (any lolly that has lots of colors). Place 4 or 5 different colors on the plate. One person leaves the room and then one of the others points to a color on the plate - this becomes the poison lolly (make sure the others see the colour but don't say it). The person from outside comes inside and starts pointing at colours. When the poison lolly is chosen everyone says poison lolly. The person pointing gets to keep any they picked up before getting to the poison lolly and if the poison lolly is last they keep that one also. |

THE HAT GAME a game played by Girl
Scouts in Brazil How to play the game: Assemble a group of six+ players. Choose a large area and mark two lines opposite each other. Put a hat in the center of the area. Divide the group into two teams. Each group must stand behind a marked line. Each team numbers off and each person becomes that number. The leader then calls out a number. Each girl that has that number runs toward the center and tries to grab the hat and return to her place without being touched by the other. If a girl is tagged with the hat she must leave the game. If she is not tagged, her group gets one point. |

RABBIT WITHOUT A HOUSE a game played
by Girl Scouts in Brazil This Brazilian game is best when you have at least 11 people. Pick someone to be "it" (the rabbit without a house) and someone to be the caller. Divide the others into groups of three. Each group makes a rabbit in a house by two girls holding hands (the house) and one girl (a rabbit) standing inside. The caller yells out "Find a house" and all the rabbits, including the one without a house, have to run to find another house. The rabbit left without a house becomes it. |

CANADIAN CARIBOU a game played
by Girl Scouts in Brazil Equipment: none To Play: Girls line up against one wall. One girl is "it" and stands in the middle of the room. When she (or the leader) calls "Canadian Caribou", everyone runs across the room, trying not to be touched by "it" before reaching the opposite wall. Anyone touched, helps "it" catch others. Play until everyone is caught. Variation: Call things like "Canadian Carrots" or "Canadian Caramilk", extending the "car" syllable. Those who start out on anything but "Caribou" are deemed caught. |

BERET a game played by Girl Scouts
in France The girls split into two equal teams, and form two lines opposite each other at least 30' apart. Each member of each team has a number (from 1 to 10 if there are 10 members of the team, from 1 to 4 if there are four members etc). A beret or a scarf/neckerchief is put in the middle, at equal distance from the two teams. When the person leading the game calls out a number, the two players who have that number from the opposite teams must run in and try and pick up the object first, taking it back to their team without being touched by their opposite number. If they get back safely, they win a point, if not, the opposite team gets the point. |

LADDERS a game played by Girl Scouts
in Britain The Brownies should divide in two teams, with an equal number on each team. Each Brownie should pair up with a Brownie from the other team. They should then sit facing each other with their legs outstretched and feet touching. The Brownies should form a line of pairs so that the Brownies legs form a 'ladder'. Each pair is then given a number, starting with number 1. When a number is called, the Brownie of that number should run up the ladder (in the gaps between the pairs of legs) touch the end of the room, run back down the outside of the ladder, touching the other end of the room and then back up the ladder and sit down in their original spot. The first Brownie from each pair to sit down in their correct spot is the winner. The team carries on like this until all the Brownies are tired out! |

Bear Song The other day I met a bear A great big bear A way out there He said to me Why don't you run I see you ain't got any gun And so I ran Away from there But right behind Me was that bear Ahead of me I saw a tree A great big tree Oh glory be The lowest branch Was ten feet up I had to jump And trust me luck And so I jumped Into the air But I missed that branch On the way down there Now you don't fret And you don't frown 'Cause I caught the branch On the way back down This is the end There ain't no more Until I meet That bear once more |
